Are you a fiduciary?

As a Registered Investment Advisor, Carmichael Hill has a fiduciary responsibility for our clients’ assets that we manage. That means that we are bound by law to act in our clients’ interest not our own. Stock brokers and insurance agents are not fiduciaries unless they are also registered investment advisors. A non-fiduciary advisor does not work under this obligation.

Are you registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)?

Yes. As a Registered Investment Advisor, Carmichael Hill must comply with SEC regulations and is audited periodically by the SEC.

Are you a registered representative of any broker or dealer or a licensed agent for any company or product line?

No. We are a fee-only Registered Investment Advisor with a fiduciary duty to our clients. We do not sell any financial products including insurance or annuities.

How much money do I have to have to become a client?

Most of our client portfolios range from a hundred thousand to several million dollars. Some of our clients are family groups, including grandchildren. We are pleased that as families grow and change, we continue to work with a variety of ages and wealth levels.

What do you charge for your services?

Here’s our current fee schedule:

1.50% for assets less than $250,000

1.25% for assets more than $250,000 but less than $500,000

1.00% for assets more than $500,000 but less than $1,000,000

0.75% for assets more than $1,000,000 but less than $2,000,000

0.50% for assets over $2,000,000

What types of investments do you usually recommend to your clients?

We select among individual stocks, mutual funds, exchange traded funds (ETFs), closed end funds (CEFS), corporate bonds, municipal bonds, and preferred stocks to develop a portfolio suitable to a client’s circumstances. All securities are publicly traded.

How do I become a client?

Contact us to schedule an initial meeting to discuss your concerns and goals. There is no charge for this initial meeting. If you decide that you want to work with us, we will sign an agreement specifying our services and fees.

Will you give me a written analysis of my situation along with your recommendations?

We provide individualized assessments for every client. For clients planning for retirement, we create a Growth and Income model spreadsheet which helps us determine income adequacy and define meaningful goals. We seek collaborative relationships with our clients and work together to implement their financial plan.

Where are your client accounts maintained?

We use Charles Schwab as the full service custodian for our client accounts.
