Jim Stewart, CFP®

Jim joined Carmichael Hill in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University. At the time, Carmichael Hill was a Registered Investment Advisor for high net worth individuals and Third Party Administrator for small business retirement plans. Jim gained invaluable experience about investments, participant education, retirement planning, insurance, education planning, estate planning and pension administration. Jim earned the Chartered Retirement Plan Specialist (CRPS) and Registered Paraplanner (RP) designations. In the late 1990’s Carmichael Hill spun off the pension administration business into a separate company and Jim became a partner in Carmichael Hill which solely focused on being a Registered Investment Advisor for individuals and small businesses. Jim earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification. In 2013, Jim became the sole owner of Carmichael Hill.

As an advisor for many years, Jim’s passion continues to be helping individuals and small businesses identify and reach their unique financial and life goals. As the Chief Compliance Officer of Carmichael Hill, Jim is responsible for proactively identifying, evaluating, mitigating and reporting on compliance and regulatory risks.

Jim is an active member of the local community serving as a Deacon of Shady Grove PCA, a coach through the Olney Boys and Girls Club and a committee member of the local Cub Scout Pack. Jim enjoys running, biking, camping and spending time with his wife and sons on baseball fields all over Maryland!

Susan Victory, CFP®

Susan Victory, CFP®

Susan joined Carmichael Hill in 2013. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and has worked in the financial services industry for over 20 years. Susan enjoys guiding clients through various life challenges and is passionate about helping clients achieve their financial goals and independence. Susan helps clients weigh their options and offers solutions regarding saving and investing for retirement, funding a child’s education, or managing risk by advising on matters such as life insurance, long term care and estate planning.

Susan graduated from Towson State University with a Bachelor of Arts and began her financial services career at Chevy Chase Financial Services, a subsidiary of Chevy Chase Bank in 1996 as a client services representative and supervisor. Susan studied and earned various securities licenses, her Maryland Life and Health insurance license, as well as her CFP® professional designation in 1998.

After moving to Evanston, IL with her husband in 2000, Susan worked for the wealth management firm Balasa, Dinverno, and Foltz in Schaumburg, IL where she began to sharpen her skills as a financial advisor by creating financial plans. Before joining Carmichael Hill, Susan obtained extensive experience at Voso Financial Advisors in Frederick as a financial advisor by creating and implementing comprehensive financial plans.

When Susan is not helping clients achieve their financial goals, she volunteers in her local elementary school and serves as her son’s Destination Imagination team manager. Susan enjoys hiking, canoeing, and skiing with her husband and three boys.

Jeff Grodsky, CFP®, QKA

Jeff Grodsky, CFP®, QKA

Jeff joined the Carmichael Hill team in July 2015. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and has been in the financial advisory business since 2000. Jeff is passionate about helping clients find the best strategies for their unique financial needs and goals. Jeff has extensive experience in the investment advisor channel from operations management to independent ownership with a broad background in investment management, financial planning, client relations, and administration.

Jeff began his career at a local firm, AFC Asset Management Services, while studying at the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. At AFC, Jeff’s roles and responsibilities grew to where he became the point person for the advisor, serving the needs of individuals across the country. In 2012 with a partner from AFC, Jeff joined an independent registered investment advisory firm, ACI Group, located in Chevy Chase, MD. As Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer of a new advisor, he took the lead role in building the company. Jeff earned various licenses including the Maryland life and health insurance license, the Series 3 national commodities futures license, and the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification.

In 2014, Jeff transitioned to a larger firm, NADA Retirement Trust, a third-party administrator/record-keeper specializing in defined contribution plans where he obtained the qualified 401(k) administrator (QKA) credential. In his new position, Jeff became an expert on ERISA retirement plans while acting as the relationship manager for plan sponsors.

Jeff grew up and went to grade school in Gaithersburg before eventually settling down in Columbia after college. Jeff is married with a son, a daughter, and a family dog. When he’s not working, Jeff enjoys spending time with his family and friends, watching sports and movies, going out to eat, and jogging. He also volunteers with his children’s elementary school PTA.
